    Default speakers

right just fitted some jl coaxial speakers to the front doors. they dont seem to sound as good as the standards. even though they aint components i expected a bit more. could this have anything to do with the tweeter as i guess there is some kind of inline crossover??

also going to be putting in some 13cm speakers in rear as i have none. is the wiring already there and do they just drop straight in?

I don't know if there is a crossover installed but I'd say the quickest solution is to take the cable that came with the speakers and attach it to the back of the stereo in place of the normal speaker block connector (assuming you're using an after market stereo) so you can hear the speaker in isolation and without the standard wiring. If it sounds much better then there's probably a crossover in line, it could also be because the speakers are quite low down in the doors you may loose the clarity of having tweeters, componants are your best bet really..

There isn't a crossover as such installed but the standard HU can define between tweeter and fronts but it's not a crossover as we know it 9if that makes sence??)

I fitted some pioneers that were made for Renaults in mine, and they sounded mint but got crackle from the tweeters using crossover box and these didnt do it in my mates Clio, so i removed my old tweeters put these in got rid of crossover box and they sound perfect now so might be worth giving that a try

Also have the pioneers in the back that were amde for Renaults, i had a slight fade to the rear (-1) bass on +4 and treble on +6 and it sounds beasty people get in and ask me if i ahve a sub etc, it's noice and great for semi-low and mid tone bass.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks
    Simon

Also make sure they are connected 'in phase' too, as this will affect the bass output. New speakers need to be run in, the cones are stiff as new. Just give them a couple of weeks and they should sound better.

imo the rears were easier than the fronts. fitted 13cm infinity coaxials, cheap and sound good enough for the size of the car. deffo a improvment. fit straight in. just had to run cable up to headunit but as you have the rear panels out anyway its a piece of cake tbh. took about half hour to get sorted. theres only bout 3 screws that hold the panels on then just pull hard and it pops off
