I've been fairly inactive the last couple of weeks since being away in London etc. So thought its about time I posted some pics from my mini road trip.
We had planned on spending a few days there, go to a gig, the London Photoshoot meet, a stop off in Preston and the Borders meet on Saturday for my birthday. Me and two mates - Gary and Rory left Glasgow on the Tuesday Evening and headed straight for London. It's a straight forward drive from Glasgow. Down the M74 until it becomes the M6, and then stay on the M6 to join the M1 - exactly 400 miles one way.
Leaving Glasgow at about 11pm we arrived at the Travelodge in Wembley for 6.30am having only stopped once, about twenty miles earlier to fill up a very empty tank!!! Before leaving, I had asked around about the optimum speed for maximum fuel economy in the TRS - click here: http://www.twingooc.com/showthread.php?3900-Optimum-Speed&highlight=optimum . On the way down I aimed to sit at 60mph all the way, pulling over once on the hard shoulder for bladder relief and once for petrol. I managed the entire tank, filled with V-Power, at speeds between 56-63 MPH. After refilling, I worked out the fuel economy at 39.4 MPG. Not as good as I thought it would be, but I was carrying two average weighing passengers, and 3 lots of luggage.

We took a two hour sleep and then headed into central London on the tube, had some breakfast and met a cousin of mine at the Commons. He gave us a comprehensive tour around the Parliament and watched Hague announce to the world how many nukes we have! Normally when I go to London its intense, and I try to do as many things as possible but we wanted to be more relaxed this time round. So we spend what was left on the afternoon on a Thames boat ride!!! :)

On the wednesday evening we had tickets for the Jonsi gig in Kentish Town, which was excellent btw, and headed back to the Travelodge for some well needed sleep! 8 hours of driving, 2 hours of sleep, a day in london and a gig = exhausted!
We slept in on thursday morning, so wasted most of the morning, headed in to town and chilled on the Thames, followed by a trip to the British Museum.

It was then time to go back and collect the Twingo for the Meet that evening. After various wrong turns, running extremely late and missing eats at the pub, I finally made it to the Waterloo tunnel! A brilliant location and never even knew it was there - had only been walking past Waterloo earlier that afternoon. Was good to meet a few new faces and 5 TRS's in one location was new to me anyway. We got some cracking photos though, and fobbed off Kevin Spacey too ;)

(the rest of my pics are on the Meet thread)
TOC had been down for a couple of days so the prospect of a borders meet going ahead was slim. Decided not to go ahead with it in the end, and scrapped my stop off at preston, so we left London about 3am that night and straight back to Glasgow!! Got back to glasgow about 9am went straight to the garage to get a new tyre, got to bed about 11am, and up again at 3pm! By 8pm I was leaving Glasgow again, this time with my girlfriend, straight back down the M74 to go camping for the weekend. We booked a campsite near Hexham/Haltwhistle that was £6 each per night, about 50p per car per night and only a 20 minute drive from Hartside.

We pitched the tent in complete darkness - about 11pm and finally I could relax!!! Saturday was overcast with occasional showers to had a fairly relaxed afternoon. We decided we'd still have a meet at Hartside even though nobody could make it as the food there was excellent, and the roads are exceptionally fun!

After Hartside we took a trip to Asda Gateshead for a bigger tent (4 man tent £30 :0!) and headed back, where we indulged in some proper birthday food - fillet steaks, some cake, whiskey champers and wine - still sucked turning 25 though :(:(:(
Sunday was a pretty laid back affair, took a drive across to the solway firth on the west coast, and then back home to Glasgow on Sunday evening.
An epic trip, and the Twingo managed it all - brilliant fun!!! We should definately do a twingo camping trip!!!
