Before any Diesel lovers get excited, we won't be getting it over here...

But if you happen to live in contential leftly Twingo euroland its a lovely addition for you along with your quick shift gearboxes and forward tipping passenger seats.

From early 2009 Renault will be offering this 85hp turbo diesel for the Dynamique and GT (first diesel for the GT) that renault say is 'designed to give more pleasure from driving'. Already found in the Clio, Modus and Megane, it joins the range alongside the dCi 65, delivering additional power of 20hp and 200Nm of torque.

Not sure if I'd prefer my GT in dCi rather than TCE, lets compare:

1.2 TCE 100 47 mpg 0-62 in 9.8 secs 117 mph top speed (claimed)
1.5 dCi 85 71 mpg 0-62 in 11 secs 111 mph top spped (claimed)

OK, so it would be slower, but it would still have the looks and the fuel consumption would be amazing, I'd be tempted if they did ever bring it over. Would you guys?

I think the reason of a diesel GT, especially in France, is that the price of diesel is cheaper than petrol over there (currently approx €0.92 ppl against €1.02 for petrol)

A couple of years ago, about 70% of all new cars sold in France were diesel, this is probably the reason why there was a diesel engine in the new Twingo in the first place.

I'd get the diesel and get it remapped for 105hp straight away, would be arguably on par if not quicker then the GT hehe
